Women are bossing the game and blossoming wealth and we’re here for it! The latest star to make headline news after announcing a massive deal is Victory hitmaker Moozlie, who announced a historic deal with Cruz Vodka this week.
Nomuzi Mabena, who goes by the name of Moozlie, has been an ever-present in the South African entertainment industry ever since she broke out as the winner of MTV Base’s VJ Search. Since then she has risen up the ranks of the entertainment ladder and has firmly established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry as a rapper and music mogul in the making.
Now she’s taken her stock even higher after being named as Cruz Vodka’s second ever South African celebrity ambassador, after the brand recruited AKA to their ranks back in 2016. Since then, their relationship has only grown stronger and Nomuzi will be looking to forge a similarly strong partnership in the years to come.
We spoke to the multi-skilled entertainer about what this ground-breaking deal means to her and what vision she has for the Cruz Manhattan Blossom brand in the next few weeks.
Moziak Magazine: Hello Moozlie, great to have you on Moziak! How did it feel to put pen to paper on such a historic deal with Cruz Vodka?
Moozlie: Thank you so much!! After being a friend of the brand for so long it feels really exciting to be able to take our relationship to the next level in this way. It feels good & very aligned. I’m very happy & really blessed.
MM: The news was circulated far and wide and saw you trending. How did it feel to see the country celebrating this big win with you?
Moozlie: It always such an amazing feeling to see people respond so positively to the work that you do. My team & the Cruz team really put our true hearts & positive energy into this so it was truly so amazing. We’re now even more excited to see what the #BlossomWithMoozlie movement will grow into as we continue on this journey.
MM: Your relationship with the brand dates back a few years; did you ever envisage that such a massive partnership would bloom?
Moozlie: I kind of did actually. I was really inspired by the AKA Watermelon partnership and I think without knowing it I’ve been working towards this for a while. I thought maybe Vintage Black because I’ve been to so many of their parties but being able to represent a whole new flavour that was created just for South Africa is something I couldn’t have predicted. It definitely true when they say God hears all our prayers and gives you exceedingly more than you can ask or imagine.
MM: The announcement came at the perfect time – right at the beginning of spring. Was this a deliberate move to make sure we’ve got something to enjoy during the Festive season?
Moozlie: The whole entire spirit of the #BlossomWithMoozlie collab is about living your life in Full Bloom! It’s about celebrating everything you’ve done, worked on and walking in your victory completely and there isn’t another season that personifies that quite like spring. We knew just how symbolic the season is in nature, in the world & even in business so we knew this would be the perfect time to launch it.
MM: We’ve seen that you’ll be working closely with the time in executing the vision of Manhattan Blossom. What aspects of your personality are you going to tap into as you shape the new direction for this brand?
Moozlie: We going into include a lot of aspects of all my different personalities. Not only Moozlie but Blanco & even a new one I’m developing that I’m calling “Ms Party”. I’ve got so many layers to me and all the people living inside of me so there will be a lot to unpack. I’m very excited to get into the fashion element of our partnership because that’s how I got acquainted with the brand.
MM: Your ‘colleague’ AKA has spoken about how empowered he’s felt during his own partnership with Cruz Vodka. Was this an important aspect for you when you were first approached for this deal?
Moozlie: Completely! Being a brand partner comes with a lot more responsibility but the rewards are high too. Music is great but advertising & business is where it’s at and this is an amazing opportunity to wear all those hats. I think these deals will now set the standard for engagement in the industry going forward.
MM: What impact do you hope this deal with Cruz has on the music and marketing industries?
Moozlie: Ultimately we just want to help reimagine the roles artists & brands play in each other’s lives. We want to encourage partnership & empowerment and show that female voices have power.
MM: With the country set to open up further in coming weeks, what words of wisdom would you like to offer for how South Africans can party responsibly with Cruz Vodka and Manhattan Blossom?
Moozlie: This has been a tough year so it’s only right that we get out there and celebrate but it’s important to remember our responsibility as citizens & fellow humans when we do so. Do not drink & drive! Don’t consume more than you can handle! The celebrations are long so don’t do something that would ruin it for yourself or anyone else. The decisions we make in 1 moment will be with us for a lifetime.
