The new Playstation 5 was unveiled to the world at the end of last week and for anybody who loves gaming, the device is a thing of beauty. Although gaming is not a gender-specific hobby, many of the boys on our timelines were particularly excited for the release of the brand new Playstation – and who could blame them?
Boasting state of the graphics, a processor strong enough to power a small city, and a slew of exciting gaming titles, it’s fair to say many people (especially men…) would do anything to get their hands on the next generation console. If you think we’re exaggerating with our use of the word “anything” then you’re in for a treat.
One person who decided to test the limits of will and desire is chartered accountant and online influencer, Phume22 who shared the following request just hours after the new Playstation launched:
We’ve seen some really inventive uses of Instagram’s Live feature since lockdown began, but the twerkathons have definitely taken the cake. From Tory Lanez’ Quarantine Radio in the USA; to Tumi Seeco’s bootiliscious twerk-for-cash contests, we’ve seen our fair share of buns on the gram in the past few weeks. But none of that could have prepared us for what was to come on Saturday.
True to her word, Phume went live at 9PM on Saturday evening and the twerk-off began in spectacular fashion. It didn’t take long for the hashtag #TwerkForPhume to reach number 1 on Twitter where it stayed for most of the day:
Sadly, you can’t ignore a good thing without trolls coming for you on these Twitter streets and that’s what happened less than 24-hours later when the hashtag #PhumeMustFall began to trend:
Regardless of the hatred she’s received, Phume has been hailed as a hero by the masses and the week began with her embarking on a number of media tours in order to promote her sensational hashtag. It seems as if she still has more up her sleeve, judging from a recent tweet where she hinted that a second phase is on the way. Oh dear…
Would you go this far to win a PlayStation 5?
