Moziak Magazine: How are you social distancing during this period?
Sihle Ndaba: I’m staying indoors and honouring the lockdown rules set out by our Government.
MM: Where do you wish you were right now?
SN: I wish I was in my hometown, Ermelo with my mom and the rest of my family.
MM: Name 3 positive things about the world almost coming to a standstill
SN:
- I think it’s giving the earth an opportunity to heal itself from all the environmental damage the modern world has caused.
- Given people time to get some rest and work on some things that they’ve perhaps been wanting to do for a while, but never seemed to find time for.
- Last but not least, I think it’s somewhat bringing us closer as a people. Different leaders and countries all over the world putting their resources and expertise together to find solutions to remedy the situation.
MM: Name 5 things you plan to achieve whilst in “quarantine”
SN: There’s only one thing on my list to be honest. Self-Care. Working as a freelance actor in South Africa is very demanding both physically and mentally. So, I’m using this time to rest.
MM: What surprising item made your shopping list?
SN: King Korn Mthombo Mela. Growing up my gran used to make us sour porridge with it. So, since I won’t be home during the lockdown, I got her recipe and made it for myself. I have it every other morning and it makes me feel closer to home.
MM: Did you stock up on additional toilet paper?
SN: No, it was sold out everywhere. Lol. Luckily, I had enough in my house to last until the shops restocked again.
MM: Have any important plans or activities of yours been cancelled/postponed because of the coronavirus?
SN: So many work engagements, shoots, speaking engagements, and even some of the projects I do with my foundation.
MM: In a year’s time when you look back, what do you think you will be saying about this period?
SN: It reminded me to never take a single breath for granted.
MM: What advice do you have for people who are struggling with the idea of social distancing?
SN: The virus does not move, unless we move. So, “Stay at home”, not just for you but for your loved ones too. It’s a small price to pay for your life.
MM: What are you looking forward to the most when the coronavirus pandemic is over?
SN: Spending time with my friends and family. Working. Man, I LOVE MY JOB. And traveling.
