As consumers and creative connoisseurs, we ask: “Is it really creativity if we stick to the script?”Halls certainly believes otherwise. Spreading the eclectic fever to the streets of Pretoria is our next #BreatheForIt mentee, Johnny Allison, who painted the Tshwane Leadership Foundation headquarters all sorts of hues with his creative flare.
A graphic design graduate, Johnny Allison has honed his expertise and amplified his creative powers through undertaking murals and illustrations. His works are particularly inspired by and are a fusion of the ordinary, day-to-day lives of Mzansi folk and commercial entities. His artistry and mural-making are predicated on visualizing his vision, most of which come out amped up and larger-than-life.

In a short and sweet Instagram post aptly titling the mural “The Courage to Be”, Allison shared:
“I had the opportunity to paint a giant mural in the center of Pretoria’s CBD. It was on the headquarters of the Tshwane Leadership Foundation – one of my biggest, most ambitious projects to date. I want to give a special thank you to @tshwanelefo @vktrproductions @amsvdwalt @hnicola_smith @feastoftheclowns2021 @hakopike @mob_uu“
There are countless instances where the breaking of the accepted protocol is frowned upon. Then there are #UngapheliUmoya moments where rule-bending is worth breathing for; this is one of those occasions.
