Manu WorldStar’s new album has been the topic of much speculation over the last 12 months, but on Thursday the hit-singer finally confirmed its release date and artwork.
It’s about damn time!
If you’ve followed Manu WorldStar’s journey, or at least the last 24 months of it, you will know just how much the multi-skilled and multilingual muso has put into his debut studio album. Having made a name for himself with a number of catchy releases and a solid performance on Vuzu’s The Hustle, Manu truly stepped into his own when he released 2018’s smash hit Nalingi.
The song did more than announce him to the mainstream stage, but it accelerated his rise as a star – something he documented on his EP, Young African Story which released to critical acclaim in 2019. But throughout all of these highs and successes has been one lingering question: When would the debut album be finally coming out?

Manu has spoken extensively about his album over the past 12 months, revealing that he was in no mood to rush the release. In recent weeks he has not only hinted that the album was complete, but he threatened to leak the much-awaited release date. Without a whiff of cover art or a glimpse of a tracklist anywhere, fans were forced to wait patiently until …
Finally! Manu WorldStar on Thursday confirmed the name of his new album would be titled, Molimo. Taking to social media to announce the momentous record, Manu wrote:
“For 2years, I’ve been working hard to try and find the best way I can to share the deepest thoughts and desires of my spirit. It is this reason why my album title is #MOLIMO, meaning ‘MY SPIRIT’ in Lingala (my mother tongue) I’m finally ready to share with you what I’ve been delicately keeping away from the world”
That’s not all, either, he also confirmed that next week Friday he would be releasing the first single from the record, titled Choko. “I will be releasing my official single titled #CHOKO from my Debut album titled #MOLIMO. My album will also be available for PRE-ORDER NEXT WEEK FRIDAY. “
We’ve been able to secure some information about the track from the upcoming track description which reads:
“Choko is a song about believing in what you want in life and going after it. Manu WorldStar wrote the song when he was in a hard place in life but when the song came to him, it gave him a revelation that he needs to keep striving to achieve his dreams and work hard for what he wants. Manu WorldStar wants the song to be able to feed listeners souls just like how it fed his.”
Molimo will be available for pre-order on all digital music stores from next week Friday the 26th of June. We’ll make sure you’re the first fan to hear his single Choko when it drops on that day!
