We caught up with Cape Town based Creative, DJ, Producer and Model, Gina Jeanz, who’s been quite active during lockdown thanks to the Jägermeister #SaveTheNight initiative.

1.What city are you currently in and what do you love most about this city?
I’m currently in Cape Town and what I love most about the city is the diverse landscapes. There’s so much to do, the mountain, city and ocean are all in close proximity so adventure is just around the corner.
2.Your favourite hangout spot in your hometown is?
My favourite hangout spot is Am Weinberg Estate, the food there is so delicious my girlfriends and I always have the best time there.
3.A song that perfectly describes your country right now?
ILA by Lioness.
4.What is on your music playlist currently?
I’ve been listening to a lot of new music lately, currently on heavy rotation is Elaine’s Elements EP.
5.What are you reading?
The Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes.
6.What would you say is the biggest artistic impact Africa has had on the world?
It would have to be storytelling, our continent has so many different tribes/cultures whose history continues to be passed on from generation to generation through traditional ceremonies and storytelling, it’s also played a huge role in African Art.
7.What is that one African dish you wish the entire world knew about?
“Kapana” from Namibia is an experience and although very similar to a braai setting, the combination of spices gives the meat such a unique taste I haven’t found anything like it.
8.What does your name mean?
Gina means Queen.
9.If you had one superpower what would it be and why?
Definitely to be able to teleport, I’d visit different places in the world faster, plus never have to wait in airports or heavy traffic.
10.If you weren’t a famous model & DJ what would you be?
I’d definitely be doing something within the arts, so I’d be a painter.
