We are on the two days away from the biggest night in South African Music. The 28th South African Music Awards ceremony will be held on 28 August 2022 in Sun City, broadcast live on SABC1. The awards ceremony promises to be a star studded affair with the red carpet, behind the scenes, the main show and the night one awards being hosted by an array of beloved entertainers. Nandi Madida
SAMA Award-Winning Nandi Madida is no stranger to the South African Music Awards (SAMA) stage. The multifaceted talent is one of the few who has occupied every mode of the SAMA platform returning this weekend as one of the hosts. The SAMAs announced her as the host on the 9th of August (Women’s Day), stating Madida is an “example of the bold, compelling and immensely talented women” they wish to “acknowledge, uplift and empower”.
“When I accepted my first SAMA in 2020 for my collaboration with K.O, Say U Will, I would not have imagined that I would be hosting just two years later. I am humbled to have been trusted with this honour and look forward to bringing unforgettable moments to the #SAMA28 stage alongside my co-hosts.” said an excited Madida.
With her husband, Zakes Bantwini being nominated for seven SAMAs, the night promises to be a memorable affair for the Madida empire
Lawrence Maleka
Award winning actor and media personality, Lawrence Maleka joins Nandi Madida as a SAMA Awards Ceremony host using his unbridled charm and room-commanding skills to celebrate musical excellence. Lawrence, may have gained prominence for his role as Zolani on soapie The River, but it is his stellar hosting skills that have gained him reverence. He has previously hosted Big Brother Africa and #SAMA27 with Bontle Modiselle-Moloi
“I am again honoured to have received the call to host the country’s most prestigious awards show. I am excited about the calibre of artists that will be celebrated across 30 categories, the phenomenal performers that will ignite the stage and the magic Nandi Madida and I will create on stage. It’s going to be a memorable iteration of the South African Music Awards.” Shares an excited Maleka.

Zanele Potelwa
Television and radio personality Zanele Potelwa, known for her prominent role as the host of Selimathunzi and 5FM’s 5 lunch (from 12PM-3PM), is the bubbly and meticulous personality will bring her passion for music and pop culture to the fold as the official 2022 red carpet host.
Zanele will be interviewing the biggest names in music as they walk down the red carpet at this weekend’s main event live from Sun City. Zanele will be speaking to some of this year’s nominees and guests about their careers, the awards and what the future has in store for them, while they show off their stunning red carpet looks.
“I’ve been dreaming of being the SAMAs red carpet host ever since I was young, and the fact that it’s finally happening is beyond my wildest dreams. Happy doesn’t begin to explain it!” Zanele says of her new hosting gig. “The SAMAs is one of my favourite awards shows because it’s Mzansi’s BIGGEST night in music.”
Zanele adds that as a major music fan, these awards are so important for the entertainment industry and she’s thrilled to be a part of them this year. “As a radio presenter and DJ, music is my bread and butter. Music is life and the people who bring us hit after hit in our diverse and amazing music industry deserve to be celebrated all the time, over and over again.”
