As I, and many of my fellow Africans rediscover the ancient wealth, knowledge, and cultural nuance to the empires we dawned in the golden age of our civilization, I have to take a moment to account for the misconceptions I once held about what parameters warranted African intellect, political, economical, and societal structures were at the helm of my ancestry.
As much as we may not have western articulation or systems of defining our community leaders who were lawyers, engineers, accountants, politicians, celebrities, entrepreneurs and other societal roles you can imagine; we did have a context of these systems and roles in place. Despite the execution of said systems being impaired by the challenging demons such as greed, once held the African folk in a neat relationship with prosperity.
Admittedly, I have an ick regarding how first-generation black excellence in the wake of western history is reduced to a cliché term. It gives off the impression that our ancestors did not sacrifice, blood, sweat, mental agility and their martyr bodies to in fact contribute to the thought reform that is reprogramming the black conscious into seeing, being, basking and working in the full might of their worth.

With eclectic models, Talla Dieng, Sheik Umar, Queen, Aaliya, BufordKhadim Diop at the centre of this upper echelon affair, the chic, clean-cut tux-styled jackets, coupled with gaucho hat pieces avant-garde dresses the exhibition reimagines the texture of black empowerment in the wake of the 4th industrial revolution.

This exhibition is an ode to the rise of black professionals who can perform at the highest plateaus of corporate, entrepreneurial, and professional spaces, and also position themselves as role models for the generations who will come after them to have a representative staple that will set the benchmark of their aspirations which has historically being limited to survival culture.
Having spent centuries at the short end of the opportunity stick, the weight of being leaders in our respective fields is tasked with excellence being the standard of what we can define as a bare minimum. While we can openly debate the fairness of having a work ethic that is double that of the ruling class who have enjoyed millennia of generational wealth to bequeath their children, it goes without saying we have tipped the scales and order is being re-established.
