I watch a lot of YouTube make-up videos, most of the YouTubers I watch were talking about the Maybelline fit me foundation so I knew I had to get it even though I knew that I would have to get it after a few months because when it comes to South Africa and makeup products we receive it after a few months when the hype has died.
I remember going to Dischem to purchase my monthly toiletries. When I go to Dischem I always pass through the makeup aisle just to see which products are available and to window shop and to my surprise, South Africa has the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and Powder! Guess what? They had it in my shade colour 365 which happens to be the darkest shade.
Darker shades of foundations are a mission to find in South Africa which I think is ridiculous but I was very pleased to find my shade which matches me so perfectly. Maybelline, thank you for your wide range of different shades. Us, dark skinned women appreciate you. The Foundation is R99,00 at Clicks and Dischem.
The Maybelline Foundation and Powder is said to be matte, ideal for normal to oily skin types and it has micro-powders to control shine and blur pores making it a pore minimising foundation.
For me, the foundation has a very runny consistency. The coverage is not that full, so you might have to apply at least two layers of foundation, but I can assure you it will not give you the “cakey” look. With regards to it being matte, I noticed after a few hours I get oily around my T-Zone area. If you use the powder after the foundation it helps with the oil production but not that much. The powder helps you achieve a flawless look. My powder shade is 370 (espresso) which is also the darkest shade. The powder is R99,00 at any Clicks or Dischem store.
To achieve a completely flawless look I also use the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer and Maybelline Super Stay Finishing Spray. The primer helps smooth pores and also assists with oil production. The primer is available at Clicks and Dischem stores for the price of R99,00. To lock in my final look, I use the finishing spray which is available for R149,00 at selected Clicks and Dischem stores.
Overall, I give the foundation and powder a 7/10.
